Meet the Rock Family. Ashley is a hard-working, patient mom of two very lively boys. And David, also hard-working and patient, is a chemical engineer. Two careers that sit close to my heart. The boys are imitations of Dash from The Incredibles. Every time you look, they were in a different place and a different position! So—I set my shutter speed to super-fast and started clicking!
Together, we explored the Virginia State Capital grounds and they rocked this session. Branches were dragged, birds were chased, steps were climbed, and fruit snacks were consumed—all in pursuit of the perfect shot. But perfection is a high bar and in the end, we got something far better: family life. It was a glimpse into the joy and exhaustion of keeping up with little boys; the patience required in pursuit of smiles; the ups, the downs, and a few “hey, slow down!”s.
Family life at this age and stage is a blur, yet this took the time and effort to capture it. For one small moment, time stopped and these little guys will be indelibly 4 ½ and 2 ½. And that’s a treasure!
